If you are moving to Phuket with a pet, start your apartment search with the building's rules. Not every condominium allows animals, even when the unit belongs to you.

A pet-friendly label can mean very different terms. In one project animals are allowed throughout the residential building, in another only a dedicated block is open to pet owners. On top of that, there may be limits on weight, the number of animals and the use of shared spaces.

We picked five Phuket projects worth considering for buyers with a dog or cat. All of them are in our property catalogue with prices and floor plans.

1. The Title FIZZ: a pet-friendly apartment in Kata

Area: Kata.

FIZZ is a small project by Phuket's new-build standards, with 135 apartments. It is positioned as pet-friendly and includes its own Paw Park in the facilities.

The project also plans a separate club building, a pool, a gym, a sauna and a coworking space. That format suits people who want to spend a lot of time on the island and use the infrastructure next to their apartment.

Who it suits. A single buyer, a couple or a family with a pet who like Kata and want a new complex in a beach area.

When choosing an apartment we look at the route to the pet area, where the exits are and how easy it is to come back after a walk. For a dog, being able to go out several times a day without crossing the whole complex matters.

Why it is on the list: a pet-friendly concept and a dedicated space for pets in a relatively compact project.

2. The Title KUARTZ: a pet-friendly block in Karon

Area: Karon.

At KUARTZ a specific block A is allocated for living with animals, and there is a Pet Park on site. So a pet owner should choose an apartment in the right block from the start.

The complex consists of two seven-storey buildings. The facilities include pools, a gym, coworking, children's spaces and lounge areas.

Who it suits. Buyers who prefer Karon and want to come to their own apartment together with a pet.

When shortlisting we compare floors, the position relative to the lift, the window orientation and the route to the exit. If your dog is sensitive to noise, we look separately at how close the unit is to active communal areas.

Why it is on the list: clear separation between blocks and a dedicated area for animals.

3. The Title Modeva: a separate block for pet owners in Bang Tao

Area: Bang Tao.

Modeva includes a dedicated pet-friendly block. The format is confirmed in AssetWise materials: the project has six regular residential buildings and one building for living with pets.

For a buyer this means choosing a specific unit inside the permitted part of the complex. An apartment in the neighbouring building does not become pet-friendly automatically.

Who it suits. Those considering Bang Tao for long stays or regular trips who want to factor in a pet from the start.

In a large project the daily walking routine matters most. We look at where the block sits, the exits from the territory and the routes you will use in the morning and evening.

Why it is on the list: a dedicated block lets you focus your search on apartments intended for living with animals.

4. The Title Olive: a pet-friendly option in Nai Yang

Area: Nai Yang.

The Title Olive is presented as a pet-friendly project. Pet owners are offered block A and a dedicated pet park.

It is worth adding to the comparison for those who like the north-west of the island and are considering Nai Yang for holidays or long stays.

Who it suits. Buyers with a pet who already know the area or want to compare it with Kata, Karon and Bang Tao.

At a viewing it is important to assess the surroundings beyond the complex. Where does the usual walk go? Are there comfortable pavements? Will you have to cross a busy road every time?

Do not assume a dog is allowed on any beach or park area. The rules of each specific place are checked separately.

Why it is on the list: a pet-friendly block and its own pet area in Nai Yang.

5. Layan Verde: infrastructure for everyday life with a pet

Area: Layan.

Layan Verde stands out for its detailed concept for animal owners. The official website lists walking and play areas, paw-washing stations in the lobby, a grooming salon and a pet supplies shop. Living with pets is governed by the complex's own pet policy.

For those living on the island year-round, these details can be more useful than a general "pets allowed" label. After a walk you need to wash paws, see a groomer now and then and buy food.

Who it suits. Buyers looking for a complex for long-term living who want their pet's needs included in the daily routine.

When choosing, we check which blocks and apartments suit your animal, how access to the walking areas is organised and which services are paid separately.

Why it is on the list: the concept includes a whole set of spaces and services for life with pets.

What to check before buying an apartment with a pet

First, tell us who is moving with you: a dog or a cat, the breed, weight and number of animals. We need this at the very first shortlisting stage.

For a suitable apartment we check:

  • whether living with your specific pet is allowed;
  • whether the permission covers the chosen block;
  • whether registration, a deposit or extra fees apply;
  • which rules apply in the lifts and shared spaces;
  • where you can walk and whether a carrier is required.

We are especially careful when selecting housing for a large dog or several animals. A general pet-friendly label does not confirm permission for any pet.

For projects under construction we review the living rules and facility opening dates together with the purchase terms. For completed projects we request the current regulations from the management company.

Choose an apartment for the whole family

A convenient layout, the area and the budget remain important criteria. But if a pet lives with you, daily walks, house rules and access to the services you need are added to them.
